EAM On Tour - Prag (Czech Republik)
10 April 2006 - 14 April 2006
Prague is one of the most captivating cities in Europe, its hallmarks are a unique atmosphere and the remarkable combination of Czech, German and Jewish history.
The city has about 1.2 million inhabitants and is a traditional spiritual and cultural centre in eastern Central Europe with numerous universities and colleges (foundation of the Karls University in 1348), art academies, libraries and museums (national gallery in Hradcany castle).
Sights from several epochs are concentrated in a very small space – from Gothic via Baroque to Art Nouveau – such as the marvellous Karls Bridge, Wenzel Square and Hradcany – the largest castle in Europe. The „Golden City“ whose intact historic city centre is inscribed in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list was appointed Cultural Capital of Europe in 2000.

The shape transformation in 2D animation
Pavel Koutský (Czech Republic)
There are several ways in film language, how to get to another place in space or time. Cuts, camera moves etc. But one of them is very natural especially in animation. It is animated transformation. It‘s not only the way to move in space and time, but it can bring new qualities of humor and creativity.

Film sound and film music
Gerhard Lampe (Germany)
The learning goals are a better understanding of the interdependency of pictures and sound, and the basic knowledge of using sound and music as narrative and dramaturgical elements of a film. Main subjects are a brief history of sound and music in feature films, principles of diegetic/non - diegetic sound and music and structures and impacts of some techniques (mood and leitmotiv technique).

Structure of the film
Short exercises in storyboarding of short films
Michaela Pavlátová (Czech Republic)
Due to the limited time of the workshop, students will not draw any animation. Mrs. Pavlátová would like to concentrate on the story, storyboard, inner structure of the film and things connected with it. She will show various films and analyze them. It should also discuss the work on the film in progress. Then students will create short storyboards. (If possible, students may bring the drawings of 2 characters for simple 30 sec. long animation.)

“MEETING” – A pixilation clip
Paola Piozzi (Italy)
Conceived as a theatre sketch, a weird, funny or surreal short story can be told in more then few animated frames. The structure: Two characters meet on stage and everything imaginable could happen during this simple event: waiting (character A waits for character B – not an ordinary waiting), coming in (character B comes in – astonishing coming in), meeting (characters A and B meet – any creative happening), open end (they may stay, go, disappear or whatever – unexpected end). Step-by-step everything can become possible in this creative approach to pixilation in order to surprise the audience.
